  • Love: Felt, Experienced, and Shared

It’s Valentine’s Day. Many people will give flowers and dine together as a way to show their love. That’s nice, but real love is most visible when everything isn’t perfect. “God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

It is wrong to say that God loves sinners. Neither is it right to say that the church is a hospital. That’s saying that Christ Jesus’ death on the cross wasn’t sufficient to make anyone who believes in Him be righteous in the sight of God.

We Christians aren’t perfect in ourselves, but Christ Jesus fulfilled all Scriptures, perfecting everyone who believes in Him in God’s sight. The Bible states, “the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, ‘The righteous shall live by faith.’” (Romans 1:16-17)

Again, the Bible declares, “For as by the one man— Adam’s— disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man— Jesus Christ’s— obedience the many will be made righteous.” (Romans 5:19)

It all depends on faith. That is faith in Christ Jesus. Not just lip service faith, but faith that works. James, the apostle of Jesus Christ, states, “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” (James 2:17)

Hence, Jesus Christ declared, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” (Matthew 19:21)

Make no mistake, perfection isn’t attained by good works. Rather, it is by following Jesus Christ through and through. Giving up anything that hinders our commitment to Him. No reservations, no ifs, and no buts. That’s what Jesus was teaching in Matthew 19:21. Nothing, absolutely nothing, should be between us and Jesus Christ.

Christians, let us make Christianity interesting to everyone. Embrace God’s love, live by His love, and spread His love.

Peter, in the words of Acts 3:6, declared, “I possess neither silver nor gold, but in the name of Jesus Christ, I offer you what I have.” Share this article freely, for you freely receive.
